The De minimus exemption which allowed small overseas purchases with a value below US$800 to be imported duty free into the US will cease on the 29th August 2025.

After that date, all incoming parcels from outside the USA will be charged a different import duty/tax/tariff depending on the country of origin that the parcel is sent from.
This payment would be charged to you the customer by the US postal service before the parcel is released to you for final delivery.

There is currently no information available as to what the import duty/tariff would be, but it will be one of the three options below.

1.  Australia is currently on the base tariff rate of 10% with regards to exports to the US. If this is the option used by the US post office when assessing the import duty/tariff the additional cost to the customer would be an extra 10% of the value of your purchase.

2.  For the first six months of the new system only, the US post office can decide to charge a flat fee instead of a percentage of the item’s cost. This fee will be between US$80-US$200 depending on the country of origin. As Australia is on the base tariff rate, I would expect the fee to be closer to the US$80 mark, but I have no definite information to clarify this at present.

3.  At this point in time “Steel and aluminium imports and their derivatives” are subject to a specific 50% tariff coming into the USA. As all my products are exclusively manufactured from those materials there is unfortunately a possibility you could be charged by USPS an additional 50% of the cost of your purchase if it is assessed that way.

I currently have no way of knowing which option USPS will decide to charge you before your parcel is released to you sorry. Your local post office may be able to provide additional information.

These options may be subject to changes by the US government at short notice, I will update this page as soon as I hear of any changes to any of the above or clearer information becomes available.

I am sorry I can’t give a clearer picture at this stage as there is very little information available so far on what the changes to the De minimus exemption will be.

I am happy to ship orders to customers in the USA but please take into consideration what your additional costs could be upon its arrival.

If you decide to go ahead with an order I will forward this information to you again for confirmation before shipping your purchase, so you are fully aware of what the additional costs could be.

I apologise for any inconvenience during these difficult times.
